The March 9, 2016 Alberta Oil and Gas Crown mineral rights land sale earned the province a total of $8.19 million. This is almost double the total of the previous land sale on February 10.
The chart below shows that the land sale results are trending upward after the first 4 Alberta land sales of the year.
A total of 110 leases consisting of 42.9 thousand hectares of land were sold. The average price paid per hectare was $190.86 which is up from the average of $162.67 paid on February 10. The cumulative total so far for 2016 is $19,611,246.38
A total of 59 companies participated and the single largest non-anonymous bidder was Tourmaline Oil Corp. who paid $164 thousand ($213.84/ha) for 3 sections in the area of the Gordondale Gas Field in North Western Alberta.
