Over 25,000 attendees participated in largest Gas & Oil Exposition to-date

CALGARY, June 13, 2013 /CNW/ – Gas & Oil Expo 2013 has concluded after three full days of networking, presentations and world-class exhibitions. The biennial event, which took place from June 11-13, 2013, was the largest to date, welcoming more than 25,000 attendees, and over 4,000 exhibitors for a total of 29,000 registered attendees to Calgary’s Stampede Park.

Opening June 11, Gas & Oil Expo hosted more than 680 exhibitors and expanded over 170,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Industry experts and attendees from across the globe visited a variety of oil and gas exhibits and networking events, sharing their insights on emerging technology and the industry’s most pressing issues.

During the 2013 gathering, it was also announced that the Global Petroleum Show (GPS) would become an annual event, marking the end of the biennial Gas & Oil Expo. The annualization of GPS will allow attendees and exhibitors access to emerging markets, the latest technologies, and collaboration with industry experts on a yearly basis. In 2012, GPS broke attendance records and welcomed 63,000 registered attendees; generating more than $69.4 millionCAD in direct economic impact to Calgary and saw over $8.9 billion CAD in business transactions.

“The annualization of GPS responds to the record breaking attendance we have seen at both shows, year after year,” said Wes Scott, Executive Vice President of dmg :: events, organizers of Gas & Oil Expo and GPS. “The overwhelming success of this year’s Gas & Oil Expo further exemplifies that our global participants need an annualopportunity to connect face-to-face in Canada’s energy capital.”

GPS will return to Calgary Stampede Park from June 10-12, 2014. For further information and event updates on Global Petroleum Show, please visit www.globalpetroleumshow.com.
