Drilling Rig Fatality reported in Northwestern Alberta

CALGARY, ALBERTA–(Marketwired – June 27, 2013) –

Calmena Energy Services Inc. (TSX:CEZ) and Birchcliff Energy Ltd. (TSX:BIR) regret to report that late this morning a 32-year old man, employed by Calmena, died of injuries suffered in a fall on a drilling rig in northwestern Alberta. At the time of the incident the drilling rig, owned and operated by Calmena, was drilling surface hole on a Birchcliff lease, located approximately 40 km east of Dawson Creek.

Operations at the rig were immediately and safely suspended. The Spirit River RCMP and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety are conducting separate investigations, supported by Calmena and Birchcliff.

The family of the deceased man has been notified by the RCMP. We at Calmena and Birchcliff extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of our deceased colleague.
