Employee volunteers, suppliers and Esso gas stations fuel recovery efforts
CALGARY, July 8, 2013 /CNW/ – Imperial Oil Foundation and its majority shareholder, Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today a contribution of $500,000 for flood-response efforts in southern Alberta. Imperial provided an additional $150,000building on $100,000 pledged to the Red Cross immediately following the floods for a total of $250,000. ExxonMobil contributed an additional $250,000.
“The generosity of our workforce has been fantastic,” said Rich Kruger, Imperial’s chairman, president and CEO. “I am really proud of how many of our employees are helping their neighbours and friends in this time of need.”
“The impacts from this flood are devastating and will take a significant amount of time and resources to recover. Imperial will continue to support our communities as we move forward.”
Hundreds of Imperial employees have also contributed to the relief effort so far by volunteering in Days of Caring with the City of Calgary to clean up local communities and with the Red Cross to distribute cleaning kits, camping equipment and emergency supplies to residents.
