CALGARY, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ – Nick Taylor, president and CEO of Softrock Minerals Ltd (TSX-V SFT) released a progress report on the company’s Alberta activities

He states that the company has applied to the Alberta Government for a lease extension on their 640 ac  oil and gas lease in the Charlie Lake producing trend of Northwest Alberta to give more time for farmout negotiations

He further notes that in the last few weeks , the main operator in the area , Exshaw  Oil Corp ( a subsidiary of Tourmaline Oil Corp) has applied to the Alberta Government for altered spacing units that will permit horizontal well completions in the sections offsetting to the south and southwest of the company’s lease

In addition,  Exshaw  has also announced a shallower than Charlie Lake Triassic  test immediately south of the Softrock lease which may be intended to test the Doe Creek horizon, a bed that produces in places in the area.

On the Industrial Mineral  front, Taylor says the company has obtained a two year extension  from the Alberta Department of Energy for its 9,216  Ha (20,709 ac) Permit for potash and diamonds in the Chinchaga area of northwest Alberta.
