While using a backhoe to dig up earth near Spirit River Alberta, crews working on a new pipeline for Tourmaline uncovered a gigantic dinosaur fossil.

The fossil is estimated to be around 30 meters in length.

The backhoe operator dug into what he thought was a rock, but after grabbing a piece from the ground and examining a pattern in the earth the worker noticed he dug up a series of fossils.

After the discovery the workers stopped digging and waited for paleontologists to come to examine the fossil. Palaeontologists from the Royal Tyrell Museum and National Geographic arrived Wednesday to examine the find.

Brian Brake, executive director of Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum, told the Edmonton Journal: “We have is a totally composed tail…It’s beautiful.”
