CALGARY, ALBERTA–(Marketwired – Aug. 14, 2014) – Terra Energy Corp. (“Terra” or the “Company”) (TSX:TT) announces its financial and operating results for the three month period ended June 30, 2014. Copies of Terra’s second quarter results may be obtained at www.sedar.com or www.terraenergy.ca.

Second Quarter 2014 Results

  • Production averaged 3,610 boe/d and consisted of 85% natural gas with 15% oil and liquids.
  • The Company generated revenues of $12.5 million compared to revenues of $10.8 million during the same period last year.
  • Cash flow from operations increased to $3.4 million as compared to $0.1 million for the second quarter of 2013.
  • The Company’s continued efforts to reduce operating expenditures coupled with improved commodity pricing has resulted in a 44% increase in operating netbacks to $5.1 million or $15.43/boe, as compared to $3.5 million and $10.31/boe for the second quarter of 2013.
  • Subsequent to period end, the annual review of the Company’s credit facility with its senior chartered Lender was completed resulting in an increase in the facility from $25 million to $30 million.

On the operations side, the Capital Expenditure Plan for 2014 contemplates approximately $14,331,000 of total capital spending to occur during 2014 with approximately $4,514,000 of capital being allocated towards pipeline tie-ins. Consistent with the Plan, the majority of capital expended in the first two quarters was in connection with the Grande Prairie and Monias pipeline tie-ins. Each of these two pipeline projects were completed during the second quarter and these pipelines are now operational. The Company is experiencing delays and curtailments in its production as a result of third party processor and competing third party operated production issues.

The balance of Capital Expenditure Plan for 2014 focuses primarily on 28 to 32 recompletion operations, the purpose of which is not only to increase current production and year end reserves but primarily to increase the level of confidence for the 2015 and 2016 horizontal drilling programs, which are designed to fully exploit these reservoirs. The spring break-up and related road-bans continued for two weeks beyond what was initially planned by the Company, resulting in the Company’s recompletion program getting off to a delayed start in the second quarter. The overall impact of this recompletion program for the second quarter was therefore minimal.

The results to date on this recompletion program, while generally very encouraging, are still early and more time is required by the Company in order to fully assess the impact, both technical and economic. The Company has completed ten of these recompletion operations to date and several of the wells have already been placed on production, but not for any extended period yet.

The majority of the Company’s recompletion projects are targeting the Company’s two key oil plays in the Stoddart and Red Creek areas of British Columbia. As a result of the lead time required for drilling licences in the Province of British Columbia, priority has been given to several of the recompletions in the Stoddart area to date, so that licences might be available for this coming winter. Work is scheduled to proceed in the Red Creek area and Boudreau areas in the coming weeks.

It is intended that an operational update will be provided in mid-September.

Information Regarding Disclosure in Oil and Gas Reserves and Operational Information

A boe conversion ratio of six thousand cubic feet per barrel (6mcf/bbl) of natural gas to barrels of oil equivalence is based upon an energy equivalency conversion method primarily applicable at the burner tip and does not represent a value equivalency for the individual products at the wellhead. Such disclosure of boe’s may be misleading, particularly if used in isolation. Given that the value ratio based on the current price of crude oil as compared to natural gas is significantly different from the energy equivalency of 6:1; utilizing a conversion of a 6:1 basis may be misleading as an indication of value.
