DENVER, CO–(Marketwired – April 29, 2015) – Denver Zoo is thrilled to have Anadarko Petroleum Corporation as the presenting sponsor of the this year’s Do At The Zoo fundraiser, where all proceeds will benefit science education delivered through on and off-site programs hosted by the Zoo. Anadarko has been a supporter of Denver Zoo’s largest fundraiser since 2008 and has helped foster education through various programs in the United States and abroad. This year, the company will once again join guests at the 26th annual event slated for Thursday, June 18.

“It is an honor to continue supporting a cause so important to Anadarko and, once again, partner with Denver Zoo,” says Anadarko Director of Social Investment Amy Venturi. “The Zoo really helps foster an appreciation for STEM-based learning activities by bringing education to life, as each year the Zoo’s education efforts reach about 215,000 people. We really value the opportunity to support an organization that offers such a tremendous reach and benefits so many people right here in our community.”

Anadarko, which employs more than 1,500 men and women in Colorado, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the local communities where its employees live and near its operating areas. In 2014 alone, the company supported approximately 100 non-profit organizations here in Colorado. Anadarko has also been named among Denver’s Top Work Places by the Denver Post for the past three years, in addition to earning the Outstanding Operations Award for Environmental Protection from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

All proceeds from this year’s event support Denver Zoo’s education initiatives, which aim to ignite a passion for science in children through formal and informal programming. This includes on-site classes and camps, internships, school assemblies, volunteer programs, career panels and much more. The Zoo’s Education programs reach children as young as 2-years-old to adults. Denver Zoo even hosts its own master’s degree program in partnership with Miami University in Ohio.

The Zoo strives to make its educational programs accessible to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate, through scholarships, outreach, bilingual delivery and more.

“Denver Zoo is thrilled to have Anadarko sponsor our largest fundraiser in support of education,” says Denver Zoo Vice President for Education and Volunteer Services Dana Murphy. “Because of their help, the Zoo can continue to inspire the next generation of biologists, veterinarians, zookeepers and engineers.”

Do At The Zoo kicks off on Thursday, June 18 at 6 p.m. for an early-entrance VIP party and at 7 p.m. for regular ticket holders. Join Denver’s wild party animals for the Zoo’s best gala ever, featuring more than 60 of Denver’s top restaurants serving their best menu items.
