PALO ALTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Maana, a pioneer in search engine technology for big-data-fueled solutions, today announced the expansion of its team serving the oil and gas industry. Oil and gas companies utilize big-data analytics as a means to improve operational efficiencies. Maana’s search and discovery platform makes it easier for companies to search, correlate and analyze the massive amounts of data generated by multiple disparate systems across upstream operations. Some of the world’s largest oil and gas companies have started using Maana to explore their data for indicators leading to productivity, efficiency and safety.

“The proliferation of low-cost technology such as sensors and control systems offers oil and gas companies the opportunity to automate high-cost fallible tasks,” said Peter Breunig, former GM of Technology Management and Architecture at Chevron IT. “These technologies coupled with the industry’s increasing success at collecting data is driving wider acceptance of data analytics tools that promote better decision making, greater reliability and improved safety, and uncover affordable ways to find new reserves, predict failures and drive cost savings. Within this category of big data analytics, Maana’s search and discovery platform is unique and poised to change the way upstream oil and gas companies leverage their big data.”

Peter Breunig will form and chair Maana’s new Oil and Gas Customer Advisory Board. Breunig spent over 30 years at Chevron in upstream technical support, application and research.

Other employees with extensive oil and gas expertise who have joined Maana are Erhan Eren and Jeff Dalgliesh.

Erhan Eren is the company’s business development manager, based out of Houston. He will work closely with prospective customers to identify needs and provide business solutions that directly impact line-of-business operations. Eren was at Baker Hughes for eight years, most recently as an enterprise marketing manager, where he helped identify regional opportunities to develop new markets, increase market share and obtain a competitive position in the industry.

Jeff Dalgliesh is an accomplished drilling and completions technology enterprise architect and Maana’s search enabled solutions leader. During his eighteen-year tenure at Chevron, Dalgliesh most recently led the Chevron Global Information Technology Group for Drilling and Completions, providing technology support and capabilities for Chevron’s fourteen global upstream drilling and completions business units.

“Maana’s ability to attract some of the finest individuals in the oil and gas industry is an indication of our technology’s potential to help oil and gas companies breakout of data silos,” said Babur Ozden, founder and CEO of Maana.
