Preferred Sands Introduces 22K Proppant “Heat” as the Newest High-Performance Product in Its Polymeric Proppant Line

RADNOR, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Preferred Sands, one of North America’s leading proppant technology companies, today introduced “Heat” as the latest product in its innovative line of polymeric proppant technologies. 30/50 Heat, which scored 22K psi in standard ISO crush resistance testing, replaces the need for costly ceramics by providing a superior combination of strength and embedment resistance specifically in wells above 7K psi closure stress. Utilizing Preferred’s flexible Polymeric Proppant Technology, Heat minimizes embedment and maintains fracture width particularly in high clay content formations like the Appalachia. Due to the Polymeric Proppant’s superior bonding capabilities, Heat also ensures near-wellbore fracture consolidation in high-temperature basins such as the Haynesville.

Recent well data provided by NavPort confirmed that Preferred Polymeric Proppants are an optimal fit for the Marcellus and Utica regions. The well data, which sampled high clay content wells from the Appalachia region, found that wells that used a Preferred Polymeric Proppant tail-in outperformed competing wells using Raw Sand at comparable vertical depths by more than 100 percent.

In a study sampling wells in the Marcellus Shale in Washington County, Pa., at an average true vertical depth of 7,513 feet, the available production data indicates that wells using a Preferred Polymeric Proppant tail-in produced more than Raw Sand Only wells by up to 103 percent or approximately $133,599 in average increased production per day.

In a study sampling wells in the Marcellus Shale in Washington County, Pa., at an average true vertical depth of 7,492 feet, the available production data indicates that wells using a Preferred Polymeric Proppant tail-in produced more than Raw Sand Only wells by up to 113 percent, or approximately $142,600 in average increased production per day.

These studies were based on real well data sampling deep horizontal wells in Pa. All real well production reports are conducted using actual, disclosed public well data captured by the NavPort database. To ensure the most accurate production comparison, all wells included in a production report are identified using a strict methodology comprised of 18 distinct selection criteria, including operator name, well trajectory, hydrocarbon type, and distance (all wells included in a horizontal real well production report must be within a 1.5 mile diameter of each other).
