Pipeline giant TransCanada confirmed more layoffs coming by month end.

The job cuts come after the company laid off 185 employees back in June and cut senior management staff by 20%.

The company said in a statement first reported in Global News:

It will be up to the leadership teams to determine the appropriate resources and workforce needed for their business units…Falling oil prices and the current environment are having a profound impact on our customers and we must do all we can to drive down costs and pursue our projects more efficiently and strategically,

Just over a month ago the company warned of layoffs coming as the oil downturn squeezed its customers.

The recent rejection of Keystone XL by President Obama did not help TransCanada’s situation, however the company did win a contract Wednesday to build a $500 million pipeline in Mexico.
