March 23 Land Sale Nets Province of Alberta $8.66 Million

The latest Alberta sale for Oil and Gas Mineral rights was completed yesterday and the result was a total of $8,664,107 paid for a total of 78 leases.  This is up slightly from the previous sale on March 9 when the total was $8.2 million.

The sale result also included Oilsands leases for the first time since December 15, 2015.    Two Oilsands parcels sold for $26,493, one to Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and the other to an anonymous bidder.

The chart below illustrates the trend of sale results so far this year.

The total area of the 78 leases was just over 87 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $99.52 per hectare.

A total of 33 companies participated and the largest non anonymous bidder was Deergarden Energy Ltd. who acquired 116 sections of land in the Lessor Slave Lake area for $92,000.  That works out to just $2.93 per hectare.
