May 11 Alberta Landsale Nets $1.09 Million

Yesterday’s Alberta Crown Mineral Rights Sale results are now available and the sale has netted the province a total $1,091,193.62 for 46 parcels.  This includes $61,690.63 paid for 3 Oil Sands leases and brings the total for the 8 sales so far this year to $40.4 million.

The sale amount is well below the average sale proceeds so far this year, which stand at $5.1 million.

The chart below clearly illustrates the downward trend of the sale results for the last few months.

 

The total area of the 46 parcels in this week’s sale were 22.6 thousand hectares.  The average sale price was $48.28 per hectare, versus $246.74 per hectare for the previous sale on April 27th.

Twenty-seven companies participated and the largest non-land agent bidder was Traverse Energy Ltd. who paid $24.37/hectare to acquire 5 sections in the Chigwell Area of Central Alberta, close to Ponoka.
