July 6 Alberta Land Sale Results in $6.28 million

The 12th Alberta land sale of the year, held yesterday on July 6, has netted the Province of Alberta a total of $6.282 million.  This is the 4th highest result so far, for 2016.  This follows on the heels of the largest sale of the year held two weeks ago, on June 22, which brought in a respectable $16.1 million.

There were a total of 85 parcels with acceptable lease bids, including 5 Oil Sands lease. The total for all 12 sales so far this year is $$70.1 million.

The chart below illustrates the trend of the sale results for all of 2016 so far.

 

The total area of the 85 parcels in this week’s sale was 55.9 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $112.44 per hectare versus $398.43 per hectare for the previous sale on June 22nd.

Thirty-three companies participated and the largest bid for a single parcel was $1.2 million paid by a land agent for an 11 section parcel about 20 km east of the Redwater Reef area in East Central Alberta.

The largest  non-land agent bidder was Birchill Canada Corp. who paid $172 thousand to acquire 6 sections in the Ferrier region of West Central Alberta.
