Alberta Land Sale Nets $10.2 Million

The August 17th Alberta land sale, has earned Alberta a total of  $10.2 million, which is down slightly from the $11.4 million result from the August 3 land sale.

There were a total of 75 parcels with acceptable lease bids and no Oil Sands Leases available for this sale. The total for all 15 sales so far this year is $97.3 million compared to $204.8 million for this time last year.

British Columbia and Saskatchewan also held land sales this month and the results were $0.89 million and $10.3 million respectively.  The total amounts for BC and Saskatchewan for 2016 to date are $5.6 million and $23.3 million

The chart below illustrates the trend of the Alberta land sale results for all of 2016 so far.

The total area of the 75 parcels in this week’s sale was 48.6 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $210.03 per hectare which is 13.5% lower than the $242.83 per hectare for the previous sale on August 3.

Twenty-nine companies participated and the largest bid accepted for a single parcel was $1.1 million paid by Synergy Land Services for petroleum and natural gas rights for a four section parcel in the Karr area of North Western Alberta.

The largest  non-land agent bidder was Deltastream Energy Corporation who paid $970 thousand for 15 sections in the Marten Hills area near Slave Lake.
