Alberta August 31 Landsale Best of the Year at $16.56 Million

The August 31st Alberta land sale brought in $16.56 million, which is enough to make this the highest earning sale for 2016.  This just edged out the previous high sale which was $16.1 million on June 22.

There were a total of 64 parcels with acceptable lease bids for this sale and the cumulative total for all 2016 land sales now stands at $110.7 million.

The chart below illustrates the trend of the Alberta land sale results for all of 2016 and also shows the running total for the year.

The total area of the 64 parcels in this week’s sale was 51.86 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $319.24 per hectare. That is 52% higher than the $210.03 per hectare from the previous sale on August 17.

Thirty-four companies participated, and the largest bid accepted for a single parcel was $4.4 million paid by Lexterra Land Ltd. for deeper rights in a 6,300 hectare parcel in the Brazeau River area of West Central Alberta.

The largest  non-land agent purchaser was Brio Energy Corporation who paid $156 thousand for half a section in the Blueberry area just west of Fairview, Alberta.
