Wednesday’s Alberta land sale result came in at $4,42 million, practically unchanged from the $4.13 million earned from the previous sale September 14th.

That would rank this result in the bottom third of the 17 sales held so far this year.

There were a total of 75 parcels with successful bids for this sale and the cumulative total for all 2016 Alberta land sales now stands at $119.3 million.

The chart below illustrates the trend of the Alberta land sale results for all of 2016 and also shows the running total for the year.

The total area of the 78 parcels in this week’s sale was 51.6 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $85.64 per hectare. That’s down 11% from the $124.35 per hectare average from the previous sale on September 14.

Thirty-five companies participated, and the largest bid accepted for a single parcel was $1.03 million paid by a land agent.  That was for pre Cretaceous deeper rights in a 4 section parcel in the Willesden Green area of West Central Alberta near Rocky Mountain House.  The area is primarily known for oil and gas production from the shallower Cardium and Glauconitic zones.

The complete list of successful bidders is in the chart below.
