For the month of October, Treeline Well Services Inc. committed to donating to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation $1 for every hour their rigs worked.

All told, the campaign was a great success.

12 to 14 of the company’s 18 service rigs operated throughout the province, working on both oilsands and conventional oil sites.

“We initially hoped to rack up 3,500 rig hours to assist the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in Calgary,” said Accounts Manager Matt Dagart.

“But we ended the month with 3,759 rig hours which is our best in company history! Everyone at Treeline worked very hard to ensure we reached our goal.”

With the prolonged oilpatch downturn, Dagert realised that it may have seemed like a strange time to be trying a such a campaign.

As he told the Calgary Sun, the number of lives affected by the disease is impossible to ignore, adding he knows of at least two women linked to company staff who are fighting it.

“What our team accomplished, raising $3,759, just goes to show that when times are tough it gives us the opportunity to show that we can be tougher in addressing the most critical problems facing our society.”
