Last Alberta Landsale of 2016 Nets $5.6 Million

The December 7th  Alberta land sale has earned the province $5.61 million.  That brings the final tally for 2016 Alberta land sales to $148,563,229 which is the lowest bonus total collected in years.  The table below shows the annual results from the last 5 years and 2016 is only 13% of the 2012 total.

For the latest sale,  there were a total of 112 parcels with successful bids.  The chart below illustrates the trend of the Alberta land sale results for all of 2016 and also shows the running total for the year.

The total area of the 112 parcels in this week’s sale was 52.1 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $107.62 per hectare compared to $70.43 per hectare for the November 6 sale and it’s slightly below the average for all of 2016 of $151.45 per hectare

Thirty-seven companies participated, and the largest bid accepted for a single parcel was $1.1 million paid by a land agent for three sections in the Willesden Green area of West Central Alberta, an area primarily known for Cardium and Belly River oil and gas production.
