Coming off the industry’s toughest year in a decade, people from across Canada and the United States once again for 2016 could not consume enough timely information on the state of the business. The BOE Report continued its leadership as the go-to site for oil and gas news, activity and information in 2016. By year-end, over 1,400,00 users visited BOEReport.com and viewed over 7.6 million pages. For 2015, annual user visitation totaled just over 600,000.

The site’s traffic spiked in January as several articles discussed the important role of Canadian pipeline development and the ineptitude of certain Canadian governments at both the federal and provincial level. These articles, particularly this one from Terry Etam, were shared heavily through social media. The website’s core userbase grew significantly towards the end of 2016 reaching over 140,000 monthly users for the majority of the year.

Approximately 70% of the website’s traffic comes from Alberta. The core userbase is in downtown Calgary where 50,000 oil and gas industry workers visit the site multiple times each month. The site also has a large following of approximately ~7,500 users in Edmonton, 4,000 users in Houston and over 2,000 users in each of: Dallas, Denver, New York, Toronto and Vancouver.

Our plans include growing our product offerings (which for 2016 included our Mergers & Acquisitions database, and BOE Report Finance), promote and continually improve upon BOE Finance, and to stay timely as the go-to place for oil and gas news.
