We recently wrote about the situation surrounding President Elect Trump’s choice of Rick Perry for the Department of Energy. Now the PEOTUS is expanding his circle on energy policy by adding 88 year old, Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens as an advisor on energy policy.

Fox Business Network reported that Pickens advised Trump regarding energy matters during the 2016 presidential campaign, and more specifically on the energy challenges facing the nation’s future. According to the network, Pickens also offered to extend his expertise to soon-to-be Secretary of Energy Rick Perry.

“Boone has had several discussions with President-elect Trump throughout the campaign,” admitted the spokesman for Pickens, Jay Rosser. “Boone also had a great relationship with Rick Perry, the incoming secretary of the Department of Energy.”

Back in December of 2016, Pickens wrote an article on his LinkedIn account in which he urged President Elect Trump to:

– Promote hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling
– Work with industry, not against it
– Meet our own energy needs before worrying about other countries
– Work with our allies
– Remember: energy is not a free market

The billionaire also remarked on his hope for renewable energy and has urged that that the Trump administration not lean too far to the right on this. Pickens also opined that “America is in the midst of an energy renaissance, and President Trump will have the opportunity to set the nation on a course toward self-sufficiency – our situation is good.”
