The January 25th Alberta land sale results are in and the province has earned $5.2 million.  That’s a significant drop from the $12.7 million dollars from the first sale of the year on January 11.

There were a total of 74 parcels with successful bids for this sale and one 5 section parcel alone accounted for nearly 60% of the total.  The cumulative total for the first 2 Alberta land sales of 2017 now stands at $17.94 million.

The chart below illustrates the trend of the Alberta land sale results since the beginning of 2016 and also shows the running total since then.

The total area of the 74 parcels in this week’s sale was 22.7 thousand hectares with an average sale price of $229.64 per hectare. That’s 19% higher than the $192.55 average price per hectare from the January 11th sale .

Forty-five companies participated, and the largest bid accepted for a single parcel was $3,092,953.50 paid by a land agent.  That was for a five section parcel in the Elmworth area of North West Alberta and works out to $2,416.37/ha. The area is primarily known for Triassic gas production.

The complete list of successful bidders is in the chart below.
