Canada Weekly Rig Count Up 11 to 170

Western Canada’s fleet of drilling rigs have risen again this week to 170 actively drilling rigs according to data collected by Baker Hughes for the week of June 23.

Drilling activity has increased the last month, and is still very active in comparison to last year’s count.

From one week ago, Alberta rig counts rose from 88 to 94, Saskatchewan added rigs once more for the sixth straight week – current count at 48 which is up 43 from last week.

Oil drilling rose to 98 rigs from 91; gas rigs increased to 72 from 68.
