On Dec. 22, 2017, President Trump signed into law the biggest US tax reform bill in 31 years, changing the lives of Americans at home and abroad. Many US residents will see an immediate benefit on their 2018 tax return, but for US expats and green card holders living in Canada, things may have changed for the worse. The question of whether now is the right time to renounce your US citizenship is never more prescient.

If you’ve never thought about renouncing your US citizenship, now is the time to find out if it’s right for you. If you have, but haven’t done so yet, it’s crucial to equip yourself with the knowledge necessary to make an educated decision. The process can be complex and daunting—it is essential to ensure you renounce properly in order to avoid potential pitfalls that may impact your financial future.

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Moodys Gartner Tax Law will present a complimentary seminar on the main topics of interest concerning the renunciation of your US citizenship and how your decision might affect you. Topics will include:
• How US tax reform impacts US citizens living in Canada (and what you can do about it)
• Pros and cons of renouncing US citizenship
• How to avoid pitfalls like the US Exit Tax and becoming barred from the US
