How Voltage connected their data to Petro Ninja to help deliver best in class service

Voltage Wireline is a Calgary based wireline company with offices in Calgary, Brooks, Red Deer, Whitecourt, and Grande Prairie. Over the past 5 years, they have completed more than 15,000 jobs and accumulated data (documents, logs, analysis, notes) for each well they’ve worked on. All this data is stored in an electronic well folder system, allowing Voltage to track the multiple jobs and observations for each individual well.

Though valuable, well folder systems can be slow and cumbersome to search and are rarely part of the work flow. For a lean service company, getting your field staff access to this data presents an ongoing challenge.  However, if Voltage technicians don’t have access to this data, it can lead to costly redundancy in data collection or repeated mistakes.

Voltage addressed this problem by using Petro Ninja Enterprise to create a list or map layer of all the wells they had previously worked on. Based on the colour of a well, they could quickly identify whether they had worked on the well before. However, technicians still needed to access the information associated with that well.

After discussions with the Petro Ninja team, Voltage decided to cut to the chase and connect their well folder system directly to Petro Ninja. This was done in two ways:

• File folder hyperlinks were added to each of their wells, so that Voltage employees could go directly from the map to the file folder system with the click of a button.
• Job notes were added to each well to summarize the previous work and dates Voltage had visited the site.

This improved their process by enabling them to easily identify wells they have worked on, share notes/comments for each job, and improve the retrieval of their data by having a direct connection to their well files through the Petro Ninja interface. All of this helps Voltage run a lean company while improving the quality of its service.
