Please forward everywhere – a succinct, poetic, perfect, iron-fist salute to unknowledgeable petroleum assailants

Sometimes, for people with a propensity to use many words to describe something properly, it is annoying and frustrating to read short and overly-simplistic analyses. It seems impossible to capture complex issues in a few words, and efforts often fall short. As a rule of thumb, I sneer at the paltry word counts, muttering that the feeble authors probably like Haiku to boot.

For example, I’ve been trying for a long time to properly articulate the views of the petroleum industry to the world, to find the right blend of bewilderment, anger, sadness, and frustration; and to place these views in a context that resonates with non-energy people. Patient readers are used to watching this blindfolded person try to build a car.

So then it is particularly galling to have someone come along and nail the whole thing, perfectly, in 2 minutes flat. No, let me rephrase that; it’s not galling at all, because what just came along is magnificent. So, in a mockingly brief note, I encourage you to watch this brilliant video from Canada Action. It captures the spirit of the business, the pride of the workforce, and the value we all should feel from Canada’s petroleum industry. Please help ensure that all Canadians see this, and anyone else who you suspect benefits from Canadian energy (i.e., a lot of people).
