A single section (256 hectares) of mineral rights that includes the Montney (PNG from below the base of the Charlie Lake to Basement) set a new recent record for per area dollar bonus. That single section of mineral rights went for $7,054,272/section, or $27,556/ha. The location is shown in purple on the map below (Figure 1), south of Grande Prairie. Other mineral rights sold in the September 18th land sale are pictured in pink.

Millennium Land represented the buyer.

There was also a significant amount of money spent on oil sands rights (OS from below top of the Viking FM to base of the Woodbend GRP) northeast of the great Marten Hills Clearwater field. Presumably the target here would be Clearwater exploration.

In total in the area, 11 different parcels (Figure 2) representing a combined 2,560.25 hectares went for a total of $10,010,655.59 ($3,910/ha.). Canadian Natural Resources was the buyer of half of those lands (1,280 hectares), with land brokers (Millennium Land and Cougar Creek Land) representing buyer(s) for the other half.
