The discount on Western Canada Select (WCS) heavy crude versus the North American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) edged wider on Tuesday:

* WCS for November delivery in Hardisty, Alberta, settled at a discount of $11.40 per barrel under the WTI benchmark, according to brokerage CalRock, having settled at $11.30 a barrel under the benchmark on Friday.

* Markets were closed on Monday due to the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday.

* Canadian heavy crude prices have been narrowing in recent sessions mainly due to very low inventories in Alberta, one trader said, a sign there is more than enough space on export pipelines.

* Global oil prices tumbled more than 4% to a near two-week low due to a weaker demand outlook and after a media report said Israel would not strike Iranian nuclear and oil sites, easing fears of a supply disruption.
