The Alberta Government brought in $34.2 MM on its July 23rd Crown land sale.

In total, 47,575.29 hectares were sold at an average price of $718.53/ha.

This is the largest Alberta Crown land sale of the year, reversing trends of weaker YTD land sale results. At the end of May, Alberta Crown land sale results had been tracking 57% below 2024 levels, although recently have begun to close that gap.

Of particular interest in this land sale was a large parcel of surface to basement rights that fetched nearly $16 MM. This parcel is pictured in yellow below, just west of Rocky Mountain House.

This is not the only package of deep rights that drew interest in the July 23rd land sale, with three other large parcels nearby as well. In total, $23.5 MM of mineral rights transacted in this area, representing 69% of the total dollar bonus for this land sale.
