As project opportunities continue to evolve across traditional energy, infrastructure, mining, advanced technologies, and emerging markets, collaboration across the supply chain remains more important than ever. Successfully executing projects requires strong partnerships, open communication, and a commitment to continuous engagement with suppliers and contractors. These principles were at the forefront of Fluor Canada’s 2026 Connect event, held recently in Calgary.
Connect was established through Fluor Canada’s Canadian Contractor and Supplier Relationship (CCSR) program to strengthen relationships with existing suppliers while creating opportunities to engage new organizations and expand our network. What began as a supplier engagement initiative has grown into an annual event that brings together contractors, suppliers, project teams, and industry partners to share information, discuss opportunities, and foster collaboration.
This year’s event was centered on the theme Building Strength Through Collaboration. Connect 2026 brought together representatives from approximately 202 unique contractor and supplier organizations, representing a nearly 5 percent increase year over year. Of those represented, approximately 54 organizations (about 27 percent) were new to the CCSR program, demonstrating continued success in broadening Fluor Canada’s supplier network and identifying new capabilities.
The event reflected the importance of building relationships that support successful project delivery today while creating opportunities for the future. Attendees represented a diverse cross-section of Fluor’s supply chain, providing a valuable opportunity for face-to-face engagement and meaningful discussion.
The program was led by Anita Ackerblade, Contracts Department Manager, and began with a blessing from Elders Greta and Raymond Many Bears, recognizing the importance of respect, partnership, and community. The blessing provided a meaningful start to the event and highlighted Fluor’s ongoing commitment to engagement with Indigenous communities and businesses.
Following the blessing, Bruce Brockmann, Project Operations Lead, welcomed attendees and spoke about the value of collaboration in delivering successful projects. He emphasized the critical role suppliers and contractors play in supporting project execution and the importance of working together to address industry challenges and opportunities.
Attendees also heard from Kirsten Goldstein, Director of Sales and Business Development, who provided an overview of Fluor Canada’s current activities and project outlook. Her presentation highlighted Fluor’s diversified portfolio and the wide range of opportunities being pursued across multiple industries. The discussion reinforced the need for a strong and adaptable supply chain capable of supporting clients in an increasingly dynamic market environment.
Beyond the presentations, Connect continued to serve as a valuable platform for relationship building. The event provided attendees with opportunities to engage directly with Fluor personnel, learn more about project requirements and expectations, and gain insight into future opportunities. These conversations help strengthen existing partnerships while introducing new suppliers and contractors to Fluor’s organization and processes.
This year’s event also included a community-focused initiative through a legacy partnership with the Calgary Food Bank. Participants were encouraged to support local families by donating diapers, baby formula, or making financial contributions. The initiative reflected Fluor’s commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and work and demonstrated how industry collaboration can extend beyond business to create a positive local impact.
As the industry continues to adapt to changing market conditions, increasing project complexity, and evolving client expectations, strong supplier relationships remain essential. Through Connect, Fluor continues to invest in collaboration, transparency, and partnership, creating opportunities for suppliers, contractors, clients, and communities alike.
The success of Connect 2026 reinforces a simple yet powerful message: by connecting, collaborating, and growing together, we are better positioned to deliver successful projects and build a stronger future for our industry.
