Oil giant Chevron has confirmed it is continuing to cut jobs across North America.
Reports say the company is cutting 655 workers in Houston as well as several layoffs at the Calgary office according to CBC.
The company released a statement yesterday:
In light of the current market environment, Chevron continues to take action by revising organizational structures, increasing efficiencies and reducing expenses…As part of this, we have undertaken a previously announced workforce reduction across our Upstream group. We are sensitive to the concerns of impacted employees, we are providing them 60 days transition pay, severance and career transition services.
The company announced in October it would cut between 6,000 and 7,000 jobs globally.
