March 18, 20153:15 PM Marketwired

CHETWYND, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwired – March 18, 2015) – The District of Chetwynd is pleased to announce that TransCanada will donate $100,000 toward construction of the new Medical Clinic and Wellness Centre in Chetwynd.

“We are so fortunate to share a community with corporate citizens like TransCanada,” stated Mayor Merlin Nichols. “This Medical Clinic and Wellness Centre will become a reality, in part because TransCanada recognized the value the clinic will bring to the residents of Chetwynd and area. When industry and local government work together to build a better community, everyone wins.”

“We are honoured to support the District of Chetwynd in securing sustainable and long-term medical services by investing in this very important piece of infrastructure,” said Tony Palmer, TransCanada’s senior vice-president, stakeholder relations. “TransCanada is committed to participating in broader initiatives in northeast British Columbia to in order to help strengthen and give back to the communities where we operate.”

Councillor Ernest Pfanner, Chair of the District of Chetwynd Council’s Health Services Committee stated, “We are very thankful for the donation of $100,000 toward the medical clinic. It is challenging to recruit medical professionals in northern communities, but TransCanada has demonstrated they are working with us to meet this challenge by assisting us in construction of this beautiful new medical facility.”

The Chetwynd Medical Clinic project is on time and on budget, and plans are to open mid-May.

More details on the project can be found on the District’s website www.gochetwynd.com.
