CALGARY, Aug. 25, 2016 /CNW/ – The Energy East Hearing Panel will continue to hear from intervenors on Monday, August 29, in Montreal, Quebec. The Panel Session will begin at 9 am (local time) at Centre Mont Royal, 2200 Mansfield Street. The public is welcome to attend and a live webcast will be available (view schedule).
Panel Sessions are the first of multiple opportunities for registered intervenors to appear before the Hearing Panel to share their views. Participants are invited to express their concerns, explain how the project could impact them and ask TransCanada questions. They can also share their thoughts on the future process steps outlined in the Hearing Order. The objective is to help the Hearing Panel identify key issues of interest and participants obtain information to prepare written submissions in 2017.
The session in Montreal is the third of ten Panel Sessions taking place along the pipeline route in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The Hearing Panel will be in Quebec City starting on October 3.
- The Energy East hearing will include many opportunities for hearing participants to provide input, including Panel Sessions, written submissions, oral cross-examination and final argument.
- In addition to the hearing, the comprehensive Energy East review process will include expanded public engagement activities to be carried out by other Board Members who will report relevant findings to the Panel.
- Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) will assess the upstream greenhouse gas emissions associated with the project. The NEB and ECCC will establish an enhanced public engagement process for the public to provide comments on this assessment.
