Hyperion Exploration Corp. Announces Appointment of New Director

CALGARY, ALBERTA–(Marketwired – July 30, 2013) – Hyperion Exploration Corp. (“Hyperion” or the “Company“) (TSX VENTURE:HYX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Leif Snethun as a director of the Corporation effective today.

Mr. Snethun is a Professional Geologist with 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His career has focused primarily on the establishment, growth and sale of junior exploration and production companies. Mr. Snethun has been a co-founder, board member and/or officer of several junior exploration and production companies, including companies listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (the “TSXV“), the Toronto Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange (including Scorpion Energy Inc., Bolt Energy Ltd., Canadian Superior Energy Inc. and Seeker Petroleum Ltd.). Mr. Snethun graduated from the University of Calgary in 1985 with a B.Sc. in Geology and a minor in Geophysics. Mr. Snethun is the founder and President of Diatom Resources Ltd., a private company created to pursue petroleum resource plays in southern California.

In connection with his appointment as a director, the Company has granted Mr. Snethun stock options (“Options“) to purchase an aggregate of up to 125,000 common shares in the capital of the Company pursuant to its stock option plan. The Options have an exercise price of $0.31 and vest as to one-third on the first anniversary of the grant date, one-third on the second anniversary of the grant date and one-third on the third anniversary of the grant date. The Options expire on July 30, 2018.
