CALGARY – Musician Neil Young’s latest shot at the energy industry is aimed at the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

Young told a news conference ahead of his Winnipeg concert tonight that the pipeline makes no sense since the oilsands bitumen would be sent to China — a country he says is one of the dirtiest on Earth.

He said that, as a Canadian, he doesn’t feel good about the proposed project.

Young is on a four-city Canadian tour to support an Alberta First Nation that lives downstream from the oilsands.

He has been criticized by the Prime Minister’s Office and oil executives who say Young doesn’t understand the oilsands or their economic benefit.

Young has countered that by saying the oilsands will leave Alberta looking as barren as the moon.
