CALGARY, March 6, 2014 /CNW/ – FirstEnergy Capital Corp. of Calgary is pleased to announce the appointment of John Chambers to Chief Executive Officer. FirstEnergy’s current Chairman and C.E.O., Jim W. Davidson, will assume the title of Executive Chairman of FirstEnergy Capital.
The strong business fundamentals and principles that FirstEnergy was built upon will remain in place. Mr. Davidson will remain actively engaged in all aspects of the business and will focus his efforts on continued innovation, business development and client engagement.
Mr. Chambers, who has been Managing Director and President of FirstEnergy Capital since 2007, will continue to lead the Executive Committee with collaborative support from the firm’s Managing Directors in their Calgary and London offices. “The appointment results from our long-standing succession plan and unfolds as a natural evolution of the firm,” said Jim Davidson, the firm’s co-founder and active member of the Executive Committee. “John is a proven leader with in-depth industry knowledge. His operational excellence over the past six years as President will ensure FirstEnergy Capital is well positioned for growth as we enter our third decade of energy investment banking.”
Since 2007, John Chambers, acting as President, has delivered strong operational and financial performance for FirstEnergy – the company has been recognized as Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies for the last five consecutive years. Mr. Chambers joined FirstEnergy in 1998, and from 2001 to 2006, he served as Head of Corporate Finance. (Geophysics) from the University of British Columbia and MBA in International Finance from McGill University. He was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2006.
