Today, it was announced that TransCanada is cutting 185 jobs in its major projects division. The second largest midstream company in Canada is laying off 100 full-time employees and 85 contractors in an effort to cut costs and remain competitive.

A spokesperson from TransCanada said in a statement: “These positions were eliminated following a restructuring of the Major Projects department that was designed to ensure we move forward with our $46 billion capital growth plan in a way that meets the needs of our customers, while allowing TransCanada to remain competitive and deliver incremental value for our shareholders,” company spokesperson wrote in a statement.
