CALGARY, ALBERTA–(Marketwired – Aug. 10, 2015) – Young Women in Energy (YWE) is excited to announce the opening of its second annual YWE Awards. This distinguished awards program celebrates and promotes the great work contributions of young women in the energy industry across Alberta. The awards program opened today and submissions are now being accepted.
YWE aims to address the recognized need to increase female presence, development and leadership in the energy industry. The YWE Awards program acknowledges and rewards young women in the industry who are going above and beyond to change the face of energy.
“This award brings to light the importance of creating a space where women are not only recognized as leaders and role models, but can connect and create a community with other women,” says 2014 YWE Award Winner Brittney Ramsay, President, Britt Land Services.
YWE encourages bright young women to build strong careers and allow their work in the energy industry to be recognized. “Young women are changing the face of energy through the work they do, and it’s important to acknowledge their valuable contribution,” says YWE Awards Lead, Allyson Simpson.
Previous YWE Award Winner Jaqueline O’Toole, Operations Engineer, Husky Energy also explained, “We work in a very challenging industry, with exceptionally accomplished peers. Being recognized by members of our energy community has been an incredible honour.”
There are three ways to nominate: nominate an employee, nominate a co-worker, or through self-nomination. Nominations are accepted from August 10, 2015 to September 18, 2015.
