Venture Global LNG Announces Major Regulatory Milestones for its LNG Export Facility and Pipeline System

September 8, 20157:05 AM PR Newswire

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Venture Global LNG, Inc. is pleased to announce that its subsidiaries Venture Global Calcasieu Pass, LLC and TransCameron Pipeline, LLC have submitted their joint application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) pursuant to Sections 3 and 7 of the Natural Gas Act. The application requests authorization to site, construct and operate (i) Calcasieu Pass’s proposed natural gas liquefaction and export terminal and (ii) TransCameron Pipeline’s two proposed natural gas pipeline laterals that will connect the Calcasieu Pass LNG terminal to the U.S. natural gas grid. Both the proposed LNG terminal and the proposed pipeline system are located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

The filing of this joint application to FERC represents the culmination of nearly 11 months of rigorous engagement with FERC and other government agencies under the National Environmental Policy Act’s “pre-filing” process, which aims to secure early stakeholder involvement and feedback in project development and to ensure that environmental, safety and socioeconomic issues are evaluated and addressed appropriately.

In addition to the FERC application, Calcasieu Pass and TransCameron Pipeline have recently submitted final permit applications and final studies to the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisiana Department of Natural Resource and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

“Our final application submittal to FERC and the other federal and state agencies marks a significant milestone in our company’s development and brings us closer to our goal of delivering LNG to global buyers beginning in 2019,” said Venture Global Co-CEO Robert Pender.

“We are dedicated to becoming one of the lowest-cost providers of LNG in the world, and today’s announcement represents yet another significant step in that direction,” said Venture Global Co-CEO Michael Sabel. “This is an exciting time for both Venture Global and our global LNG customers.”

Calcasieu Pass is located on a 506-acre site near where the Calcasieu Ship Channel meets the Gulf of Mexico. Its facilities will include two ship-loading berths for LNG vessels, two full-containment LNG storage tanks and an on-site combined cycle gas turbine power plant. Scheduled to begin construction in late 2016 and achieve full operations in late 2019, Calcasieu Pass will have a nameplate capacity of 10.0 million metric tonnes per annum of LNG.  TransCameron’s pipeline system will consist of two laterals totaling approximately 43 miles in length and will be constructed with 42-inch diameter pipe.
