Rice Energy Announces Significant Donations to First Responders in Pennsylvania and Ohio

September 10, 20153:08 PM PR Newswire

CANONSBURG, Pa., Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Rice Energy Inc. (NYSE: RICE) (“Rice Energy”) is pleased to announce its annual fundraising event has raised more than $600,000 for 36 local first responders in southwestern Pennsylvania and southeastern Ohio.

Rice Energy’s annual community festival, affectionately dubbed “Marcellus Mania,” has become one of the largest community beneficiary events in the Appalachian Region. Since 2012, Marcellus Mania has raised more than $1.2 million in donations from Rice Energy’s vendors and contractors for the benefit of local first responders, including local volunteer fire departments, emergency medical services, regional safety organizations and police departments. On August 29, 2015, over 4,300 people attended Marcellus Mania 2015 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Washington, PA where Rice Energy announced this year’s record setting donation.

Toby Rice, Rice Energy’s President and Chief Operating Officer, commented, “At Rice Energy, being good stewards of the land extends beyond executing safe and responsible development of our wellsites. The donations we provide to the local first responders affords these organizations the ability to upgrade their equipment and improve the general wellbeing and safety of the communities where we do business. On behalf of the 350 full-time Rice Energy employees that call Appalachia home, we believe that making our communities safer is the right thing to do, and as Rice Energy continues to grow, we intend to continue playing an instrumental role in ensuring these local communities stay safe.”

Rice Energy will present these donations to each of the 36 local first responder organizations during a ceremonial luncheon at its Canonsburg, PA, headquarters on Friday, September 11, at 12pm ET.
