CALGARY, AB, Oct. 22 2015 /CNW/ – The National Energy Board (NEB) hearing panel for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (the Project) has issued a procedural direction announcing the details for oral summary argument.
This Procedural Direction follows up on the September 24 announcement that the NEB was implementing an excluded period for the review of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project beginning on September 17, 2015 and ending January 8, 2016, to acquire additional information related to the Project. At that time, The NEB issued a revised hearing schedule, outlining the remaining procedural steps and deadlines.
Oral summary argument is an opportunity for Trans Mountain Pipeline and intervenors to appear before the panel to summarize the key points of their argument that they would like the panel to consider.
The panel will hear oral summary argument from Trans Mountain Pipeline on December 17, 2015 in the NEB Hearing Room, Calgary, Alberta. The panel will hear oral summary argument from intervenors in two phases: first, between January 18 and 29, 2016 at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre in Burnaby, British Columbia; and second in the NEB Hearing Room, Calgary, Alberta between February 1 and 12, 2016.
The panel chose to hear oral summary argument from intervenors in Burnaby to facilitate maximum participation from intervenors. The panel recognizes that there is significant public interest in the proceedings and will live webcast oral summary argument in both video and audio, and in both official languages. Video files will also be available on the NEB website for download at the end of each day.

- The Trans Mountain Expansion Project is a proposal to expand the existing Trans Mountain pipeline system between Edmonton, AB and Burnaby, BC. It would include approximately 987 km of new pipeline, new and modified facilities, such as pump stations and tanks, and the reactivation of 193 km of existing pipeline. The Westridge Marine Terminal would also be expanded.
