Gardner Denver Expands Capabilities in Permian Basin with New Regional Repair Center

November 12, 201510:16 AM Business Wire

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Gardner Denver’s Petroleum & Industrial Pumps Division recently opened a 70,000 sq. ft. regional repair center in Odessa, Texas. To mark the event, the company hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility on Wednesday, November 11. U.S. Representative Mike Conaway attended, along with numerous Chamber of Commerce dignitaries and representatives from Odessa, Ector and Midland counties.

“To see Gardner Denver invest millions of dollars in the region with this world-class facility is extremely exciting and we welcome them to the area,” said U.S. Representative Mike Conaway.

Already fully operational, the repair center features world-class processes and equipment, including advanced testing capabilities, inside and outside, building on the proven footprint Gardner Denver has utilized with other repair centers around the U.S. Currently, the regional repair center employs over 50 full-time employees. Gardner Denver presently has five facilities for repair, testing and manufacturing—Quincy, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Altoona, Pennsylvania; Fort Worth, Texas; and Odessa, Texas.

The Permian Basin regional repair and service center brings expanded capacity and best practices established at Gardner Denver’s other regional facilities, aligning with the company’s goal of bringing innovative products and processes to market. In a June 2015 survey conducted by Welling & Company, Gardner Denver was rated #1 in the quality of their mud and frac pumps, a segment in which they are also a market leader.

“We are pleased to open our new facility to serve our customers in the Permian Basin, providing best-in-class repairs, fluid ends and parts on-demand,” said Larry Kerr, Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Petroleum and Industrial Pumps Division. “This new facility enables Gardner Denver to deliver excellent customer service for our customers operating in this region.”

The drop in oil prices has had a profound effect on the region, which has seen nearly a 50 percent drop in economic activity. But with 40 percent of active rigs in North America operating in the Permian Basin, this is an ideal place and time to expand Gardner Denver’s aftermarket and service capabilities — and to support the loss of customers’ in-house personnel. The facility is part of the company’s strategy to meet the needs of its regional customers.

“The opening of this facility demonstrates Gardner Denver’s commitment to investing in communities, creating local jobs and serving our customers with a world-class facility focused on the highest safety and sustainability standards,” said Saeid Rahimian, President and Chief Executive Officer for Gardner Denver’s Energy Group.

The service center can repair any pump—whether it’s manufactured by Gardner Denver or a competitor. Repairs and builds can stay in the Permian Basin, resulting in more responsive service. Gardner Denver believes that the testing and flow process at the facility has no equal in the region.

Gardner Denver sells to a wide range of customers for drilling, stimulation and fracking applications — and is the only company that designs and manufactures well servicing and drilling pumps. With a presence in the Permian Basin since 2003, this recent investment reaffirms the company’s ongoing commitment to serving its customers and partnering with them for success.
