Canadian Energy Pipeline Association announces Chris Bloomer as new President & CEO

CALGARY – The Canadian Energy Pipeline Association has named Chris Bloomer as its new president and CEO.

Bloomer, a geoscientist who started his career with Shell Canada, was most recently CEO of Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. Before that, he was a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Director with Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd.

“I am honoured to be a part of the association’s focus on safety, transparency and shared commitment to continuous improvement,” said Bloomer, in a release. “CEPA and its member companies have spearheaded significant initiatives, best practices, and programs such as CEPA Integrity First®, which speak clearly to the industry’s unwavering duty to focus most on what matters to Canadians when it comes to our industry.”

As president and CEO, Bloomer will continue to execute on CEPA’s current mission to continually enhance the operations, business environment and recognized responsibility of the Canadian energy transmission pipeline industry through leadership and engagement between member companies, governments, the public and stakeholders.

For CEPA, excellent leadership has been and will continue to be a critical factor in our commitment to improving safety, lessening environmental impacts and achieving operational excellence,” said Terrance Kutryk, Chair of CEPA’s board of directors and president and CEO of Alliance Pipeline. “Chris Bloomer’s experience will carry on the exceptional leadership and dedication we experienced through Brenda Kenny, CEPA’s president and CEO since 2008.”

Brenda Kenny will remain CEPA’s president and CEO until Dec. 1.
