SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Purestream Services announced today that the company has a signed a new contract with an operator to treat 10,000 barrels per day of produced and frac water for re-use in the Permian Basin. This contract will increase the total volume of water treated by Purestream Services to 45,000 barrels per day in West Texas.
Purestream placed its first contracted 5,000 barrel per day IGF Plus commercial water treatment system in July of 2014 with another large oil producer near Midland, Texas. Purestream continues to experience steady growth resulting from new customers, as well as seeing increases in volume treated with existing customers.
Purestream Services’ latest West Texas project will treat wastewater at a centralized water treatment facility that services a series of wells operated by the producer. Treated water processed by the system will be re-used as part of an integrated water resource conservation effort by the company.
Purestream’s IGF Plus commercial system (Induced-Gas Flotation Plus Filtration) removes suspended solids, oil and grease to below 5 parts per million from produced and frac water. The system is automated, modular and may be remotely operated, minimizing overall operational costs. Integrating the IGF Plus into field operations allows producers to reduce the cost of sourcing fresh water for drilling by treating and re-using produced and frac water.
Producers are utilizing cost-cutting methods such as adopting innovative technologies and processes like the IGF Plus water treatment system. It’s a new way to manage water, but the savings to producers equates to over $300,000 per completed well over traditional disposal and sourcing methods in some locations.
