PIRA Energy Group Deepens Commitment to Gas and Power Integration with New Industry Leaders

February 16, 20168:12 AM Business Wire

New talent supports recently integrated team and product innovation efforts

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PIRA Energy Group, a leader in global energy market analysis, announced today the addition of some new industry leaders in its global gas and power team.

As the power and natural gas markets become ever more intertwined, market participants will increasingly face unprecedented complexity, disruption and volatility in their businesses. To address this, PIRA has recently made significant investment in further product innovation. In order to support that effort, several new experts have been added to the team.

PIRA is delighted to welcome Teri Viswanath as a Managing Director of North American Gas. Teri joins the group from BNP Paribas, and her professional career spans more than two decades within banking and at Dynegy. She will be working on the North American gas outlook as well as helping to shape an integrated, global view of the gas market at PIRA. Teri graduated from Fordham University and the University of Texas with a Juris Doctorate law degree and completed her undergraduate studies in finance.

John Ell has likewise joined PIRA’s North American Gas group as a Senior Analyst. Prior to joining us in late 2015, John spent the last five years at TransCanada, where he was responsible for modeling long-term natural gas and electricity market fundamentals. His work targets the supply and demand impacts of natural gas-related infrastructure developments, inter-fuel switching, and their implications on price formation. John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, with a concentration in finance.

PIRA also welcomes Joshua Zwass to PIRA. Josh will take over as Managing Director for European Gas. Over 10 years in Europe, Josh managed Essent Energy Trading’s gas portfolio and then joined Statkraft in Dusseldorf. Josh graduated Cum Laude from NYU’s Stern School of Business with degrees in finance and information systems and has an Executive MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and WHU.

Teryn Norris is also joining the firm as Director of Energy Technology to lead PIRA’s analysis and services covering alternative and emerging technologies. Teryn will join PIRA from the U.S. Department of Energy, where he served as Special Assistant to Secretary Chu and advised technology commercialization strategy for over $10 billion in R&D programs. He is a recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship and Forbes “30 Under 30” recognition, and his writing has appeared in Harvard Law & Policy Review, Issues in Science & Technology, and other publications. Teryn is a Stanford University graduate with a B.A. in public policy.

“We are extremely pleased to have such high caliber and seasoned global executives join PIRA. In these transitional market conditions, our clients need more support than ever before—and we are providing it,” said Gemma Postlethwaite, PIRA’s Chief Executive Officer.
