Intertek Expands Shale Testing Capacity with Opening of New Laboratory in DJ Basin

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, today announced the opening of a new laboratory in Louisville, Colorado to support the shale industry’s rapid growth in the Rockies. In this facility, Intertek will provide testing and inspection services for oil and gas customers.

“The Rockies shale development comprises of several shale plays in the region, offering great opportunity for the industry,” said James Ignatovich, Senior Vice President of Cargo and Analytical Assessment at Intertek. “As a global leader in the oil and gas testing industry, Intertek is pleased to offer our quality assurance and safety programs, along with reliable testing services to aid the transportation and production services in the area.”

The new laboratory is housed in a 16,775-square-foot facility and located in the Denver area. Specific capabilities at the new facility include transport and production testing, inspection, field sampling, field measurement, and tank calibrations.

The new facility complements Intertek’s existing global network of oil and gas laboratories, including other recent expansions in the shale market, with facilities in the Marcellus Shale Formation in Pennsylvania, the Bakken Formation in North Dakota and the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas, and the Permian Basin, TX.
