Kinder Morgan’s proposed pipeline is a major energy infrastructure project that would create billions of dollars in economic activity for all of Canada. Yet still, the City of Vancouver blatantly stands in opposition.
And it is not difficult to find this out for yourself.
On Twitter, the City recently tweeted: “A major oil spill could kill more than 100,000 sea and shorebirds”

The City also tweeted out when concerned citizens would have the chance to speak out against the proposed pipeline. Being the sober-minded municipal government people have come to expect, could they not have simply paraphrased an invitation to the meeting like what’s written on the federal government’s website?
“At these informal sessions, the Panel will engage with local communities, stakeholders, and Indigenous groups and identify additional views that could be relevant to the Government’s final decision on the project. The public is welcome at all sessions. Formal registration is not required. Please send us an email indicating your preferred time and location in order to assist us in our planning”
Members of the Twitter universe were quick to critique such a biased point of view. Click on this tweet to see the thread that follows expressing anger for the City’s position. “When do people get to speak in favor of pipelines?” one person said. “You fools think Canada runs on buttons?” said another.
