ExxonMobil and Porsche Announce Extension of Strategic Relationship

December 20, 201610:08 AM Business Wire

  • Agreement builds on 20 years of lubricant supply, research and development collaboration
  • Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil to remain the exclusive initial fill and recommended service fill lubricant for all Porsche models
  • Sponsorship of all Porsche Motorsport activities, including LMP1/GT Works programs, Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cups, to continue

SPRING, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) and Porsche today announced a multi-year extension to their global framework agreement that has seen more than one million Porsches roll off factory lines filled with Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. This number continues to rise as Mobil 1 oils consistently deliver on their promise of fuel economy benefits and engine wear protection.

Since 1996, when the relationship began, Porsche and ExxonMobil have shared a commitment to research, development and advanced technology, with Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil facilitating four generations of the iconic Porsche 911, as well as the introduction of the Cayenne, Panamera, and Macan models. Because Mobil 1 oils are designed to provide exceptional performance and protection in extreme conditions, Porsche recommends the unique formulation for all of their models.

“For two decades, Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil, has played a significant role in helping Porsche achieve new milestones in automotive engine technology and performance,” said Nigel Searle, Vice President for lubricants, ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties Marketing Company. ”With this extended partnership we will continue helping Porsche deliver optimum performance for a truly outstanding driver experience.”

ExxonMobil will also remain an Official Cooperation Partner of Porsche Motorsport, including the title sponsorship for the Porsche Supercup, Gold Sponsorship of all Carrera Cup races worldwide and support for the Porsche Works Teams in the LMP1/GT racing categories, including the WEC Series and iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“ExxonMobil is one of our closest and most important cooperation partners, not only in motorsport but also in the development of our production engines, which are filled at the factory with the high-performance lubricant Mobil 1,” said Dr. Michael Steiner, Porsche’s Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development. “Over the last 20 years, ExxonMobil has contributed significantly to the good performance of our racing vehicles. We look forward to continuing this successful and trusted partnership.”
