NEB names new Energy East Hearing Panel

January 9, 20175:29 PM CNW

CALGARY, Jan. 9, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ – The National Energy Board (NEB) has announced today the assignment of a three-member Hearing Panel to undertake the review of the Energy East and Eastern Mainline projects.

The Hearing Panel will be composed of presiding member Don Ferguson, along with Carole Malo and Marc Paquin.

The new Hearing Panel members are bilingual, and bring considerable knowledge and experience. In the coming weeks, they will determine how to move forward with this review process.

While the details have yet to be determined, Canadians can be assured that the Energy East hearing will be fair, transparent, timely and accessible.

The NEB will communicate details as soon as they become available.

Quick Facts

  • Energy East is a 4,500-kilometre pipeline proposal to carry 1.1-million barrels of crude oil per day from Alberta and Saskatchewan to refineries in Eastern Canada and a marine terminal in New Brunswick.
  • The Eastern Mainline is a proposal to build approximately 279 kilometres of new gas pipeline and related components in four sections, beginning near Markham, Ontario and finishing near Brouseville, Ontario. Eastern Mainline would enable TransCanada to continue to meet its commercial obligations should the Energy East project be approved.
