U.S. energy firms this week added oil and natural gas rigs for the first time in three weeks, energy services firm Baker Hughes said in its closely followed report on Friday.
For the year, however, the rig count was down by 157 after gaining 193 in 2022 and 235 in 2021.
The oil and gas rig count, an early indicator of future output, rose by 2 to 622 in the week to Dec. 29.
